Because it has turned away from free market forces. It is an industry hijacked by politicians (mini-dictators).

I think because it is plainly unaffordable.That is why some people leave the country and travel to India for the same treatment at lower cost.I think doctors are being overpaid in this country.

I think "certain docs" are being overpaid - like the ones in the "ROAD" specilaities
Radiology,opth/ent,Anesthesiology,derma and not to forget SUrgeons like ortho ones.
