hey..
can someone plz explain me a trick to remember respiratory acidosis..alkalosis..meta acid and alka. i always get confuse..plz help..thanks

PH and CO2 oppsite to each other == respiratory
PH and CO2 go with each other == metabolic
then look at the PH..if it is less that 7.4= acidosis and more than 7.4= alkalosis

It works for me...maybe someone has another trick

oppsite means someone increase and the other one decrease
go with each other means, both increase or both decrease

lung-Respiratory----CO2(assume it as ACID) so if goes up--acidosis::::goes down alkalosis

kidney--Metabolic---HCO3(which is a BASE) so if goes up--alkalosis:::goes down acidosis


ALSO FOR THE PH AND H ion--- i try to stick with only one of them cause i always used to get mixed up.keeping in mind that the referance point is 7.4 , i am sure u know what i mean.
