ECFMG Certification - straightshooter

This may seem to be a newbie question, but can some one kindly explain the steps involved in ECFMG certification? I will appreciate it a lot.

If one were to get their Step 2 CK scores on Oct 7, what does one have to do to get ECFMG certification (Step 1 and CS in hand)?

Can an IMG start application without ECFMG certification? How does it affect the application?

Finally, how long does it take to get ECFMG certification after receiving the Step 2 CK scores?

Hi,

If you are done with Step 1 and CS...and if you take your Step 2 CK and get your results around Oct 7...you should get your ECFMG certificate with in the next couple of days of your CK score...given that you Medical Eduction Credentials are all verified by ECFMG...you do not have to do anything for ECFMG certification, if you clear Step 1, Step 2 CS and CK and have got your credentials verified...by default you get ECFMG certification mailed to your address...

Yes, you can still apply for residency without certification...but its better to apply when you are certified...chances for getting an interview increase very much if you are certified.
