what is the mechanism by which thiazides help in Diabetes insipidus?

DI---EXCESSIVE POLYURIA DUE TO LOSS OF ADH ACTION
THIAZIDES---LONG TERM THERAPY CAUSES VOLUME DEPLETION---SO INCREASED COMPENSATORY REABSORPTION OF WATER AND NA+ FROM PROXIMAL TUBULES---HELPS TO RESTORE EUVOLEMIA AND ELECTROLYTES..

can u pls explain role of amiloride in nephrogenic DI and why thiazide is to be avoided in lithium induced nephrogenic DI

LITHIUM CAUSES NEPHROGENIC DI---SO OFCOURSE IT SHUD BE AVOIDED IN IT
AND AMILORIDE..INCREASES THE SENSITIVITY OF ADH TO TUBULES IN NDI...SO IT SHUD BE N IS SPECIFICALY USED IN NDI

nice..but what is the action of thiazides in rta type 2.. specifically how does it increases threshold of hco3 reabsorption??

i think so it works like this
volume depletion--->increased sodium absorption from proximal tubules---->increases h+ secretion thru NA-h+ exchange..h+ in tubular lumen..combines with hco3- ---->increased absorption of bicarbonate
