Precocious puberty, the most common endocrine feature of McCune-Albright syndrome, is a result of gonadotropin independent AUTONOMOUS ovarian or testicular function.

A dominant ovarian cyst develops independent of stimulation by gonadotropins. This cyst secretes estradiol, which causes sexual precocity
