***Most common cause of Wt loss in elderly (nursing home):
Depression and adverse drug reaction NOT cancer
***Decuibitus ulcer: Use foam pad for dressing (Trade name Allevin)
***Dog bite and rabies prophylaxis:
¢ Administering rabies immune globulin around the wound, followed by rabies vaccination series
¢ If Pt unsure about tetanus status
Give the patient tetanus immunoglobulin and begin the patient™s primary series of DT
¢ Primary closure of dog bite wounds preffered except on the hands and feet.
¢ Alcohol and H2O2 should not be used in open wounds for clining (use NS).
