Dear General Surgery Applicant:
Your application for a PGY-1 position in our surgical program has been reviewed by the Graduate Medical Education Committee.
Because of the very large number of highly qualified candidates, it is very unlikely that we would be able to offer you a position in our residency program. In view of this fact, we feel it would be inappropriate to ask you to expend your personal resources to come for an interview.
We are very sorry that we cannot be more encouraging regarding your opportunities here, and wish you every success in your future endeavors.
Sincerely,
Thomas E. Brothers, M.D.
Program Director, General Surgery
