according to recent studies type1 hyperlipoproteinemia is also a CVD risk factor( 21% present with chest pain) but pancreatitis is still more common (24%)..these pts have eruptive xanthomas as opposed to Type 2 disease which manifestt as angina (MI) BEFORE 20 YRS...and examination usually reveal tendinous xanthomas and xanthelesma.....DOC for TYPE 1....fonofibrate and statins for type 2
