@wobertwow: di ako sa MI, sa NY ako.
@osteosarcoma: here's mine.

2006 grad with 1 month med school elective US clerkship, Step 1 - 99 (March `08), Step 2CK - 99 (Aug `08), Step 2CS - pass 2nd attempt (Feb `09). Applied to 75 IM 25 FM 25 Peds on Sept 1, got 21 interview calls, did 2 mos USCE before attending interviews, attended 7 IVs before accepting prematch. Took step 3 after accepting prematch - 97 (Feb `10)

Based sa mga naririnig kong feedback from the PDs themselves, mas malakas na credentials ang teaching experiences. I thought basic science as full time instructor in med/nursing schools back home and 1 year abroad.

Osteosarcoma here's my creds:

2006 UERMMMC grad, 2 years of research (couple of publications and international abstracts), 1 year of Biochemistry teaching, Step 1(08) 95, Step 2 (08) 96, Step 2 CS (09), all first attempt. 2 weeks of observership in Baltimore, ECFMG certified by Sept 1, Applied to 50 prelim IM and 50 Neurology programs, got 6 prelim IM and 5 Neuro programs, Prematch offer=2 for neurology, took the University program (Jan 2010). preparing for step 3.

The timing and score will get you, generally, your interviews but its your personality that will get you the thumbs up from the Program directors. Godbless in your journey.

@migsmd: my husband's fraternity brothers offered their practices (FM, IM, Neuro, Critical Care) for preceptorship rotations and i was very lucky to have been included. i did 1 month of IM and 2 months of FM. obviously no payment was needed Smile the US LORs I believed helped me a lot in getting the IVs but just like mikemd said, come interview time, it's who you are that makes them take notice.
