12 yr old boy - samomcos
#1
with a sore throat and yellow-white ear discharge for the past 6 days is brought to your office. The boy had been away at camp for the past 2 weeks. On examination you see purulent material obstructing your view of the tympanic membrane. There is also swelling and pain behind the pinna. You clean the ear canal with a cotton-tipped applicator, send the material for culture and start the patient on augmentin. What do you do next?
1) admit the patient
2) ask him to return in 2 days
3) send him to the radiology department
4) ask ENT to place a grommet
5) ask the patient to return in 14 days.

i wud go for xray.rule out mastoditis.i dont think 2days will be enough for symptomps to subside and no harm in doing an xray before it complicates with cranial nerve involvement.thats my guess.correct me if am wrong
