dear cooldoc69

My understanding of hapten is that it is antigen that does not induce antibodies...ur question is a good one...Well some drugs for example can induce type 2 reactions and some can induce type 3 reactiions...In type 2 i believe that this hapten binds to a receptor in the body and this complex is what induces autoimmune response of type 2...Well as type 3 is mainly an immune complex deposition disease and in this the hapten binds to a circulating antigen for example in serum sickness/arthus reaction. i think an examle of this drug is peniicillin though not sure...Will read up and let u know
