hi guys please expalin me about PERFUSION LIMITED AND DIFFUSION LIMITED CONDITION,,AND ABOUT CARBON MONOXIDE ,,,,,,PLEASE

Perfusion limited gas exchang:
> illustrated by N2O and O2 under normal conditions
> diffusion of the gas can be increased only if blood flow increases
> partial pressure of the gas in arterial blood becomes equal to partial pressure in alveolar air

Diffusion limited gas exchange:
> illustrated by CO and by O2 during strenuous exercise and disease states
> examples:
FIBROSIS: diffusion of Oxygen is restricted because of thickening of alveolar membrane that increases diffusion distance
EMPHYSEMA: diffusion of Oxygen is decreased because surface area for diffusion of gases is increased
