The main intern opportunities for learning clinical research for the MASALA study will include:

1. Telephone-based participant recruitment--being trained in the methods used for phone recruitment.

2. Learn use of the ACCESS database for eligibility checking.

3. Observation of clinical visits where all clinical data is collected. Interns can be trained on completion of some of the interviewer-administered validated questionnaires (such as medical history, physical activity, food frequency questionnaires).

4. Follow-up of participants with results mailings.

5. Participation in weekly research meetings with all MASALA coordinators/investigators at both UCSF and Northwestern site to learn about recruitment updates, clinical exam updates, progress of the study.

Contact swapna-dave@northwestern.edu if interested.
