hi i have cleared step 1 . got 88 disappointed . i am getting a good observorship next year at a good . if i do well on step 2 n get some rsearch exp will it help me to get into a good place. has anyone done this . i am an IMG .

My honest opinion.Dont waste your money.It is very difficult to get IM spot unless you have +95 scores in both steps.This is the truth!!LOR will not help you unless you have +95 scores.

how many candidates do u no wit scores >95?pls stop being ridiculous!! i personally know dozens of friends wit scores in early 80s and in decent IM prgrms.

Hi Dude Abhishek.. relax man, if 95 percentile was cut off for IM, imagine what it will be for the competitive ones??
U get urself what u want with ur scores. I personally know many people with 75 and doing there IM in NYC. cheer up, study for the next un. Dont ask peoples opinions if you cannot handle some crap that comes with it. Most likely, you will getinto the program where u undergo ur observership unless u get scared and quit!

can u plz tell me which prog n hospital r u talking about when u say 75 n in nyc, i hav 75 in step 1 n 80 in step 2, want to go into IM but everyone says iys impossible n i should opt for peds n Fp, but i lov IM.plz just giv me an idea of which prog in nyc r u talking about n if i hav any chance in IM. thanks

Dont listen to im_doc.
If you have scores >85 in both steps you will definitely match unless you did some stupid things during interviews.This is true!!

Allright, the fine print is that the people I am talking about did voluntary research in those institutes. I am talking about downstate in BK and winthrop in LI.
But then I have a fellow in Easton, Pa who did not do anything and had exact same scores 75/80 - he was offered prematch and he accepted. There is LIJ in forest hills(NYC) that also has a known associate with 76/82... Low scores - keep trying for comunity places. YOu will get them, believe in self. |
