what is mvo2 - fight4dream
#1
what is significance of mixed venous oxygen saturation (MVo2)?
what is Normal value?
How is it measured?
In which diseases increased or decreased?

it provides an assesment of tissue oxygenation and also provides information about changes in cardiac output..
usually its low in all kinds of shock except in septic shock its normal

mixed venous oxygen= mixed arterial oxygen-oxygen uptake/cardiac output

normal range is about 75%

hope these help

SvO2 represents the end result of both oxygen delivery and consumption at the tissue level.

SvO2 = Oxygen Delivered – Oxygen Consumed

The pulmonary artery is the site where SvO2 values should be measured.

The normal range for SvO2 is 60 – 80%.

High SvO2: ↑ Oxygen delivery( ↑ FIO2; Hyperoxia);or↓ Oxygen demand (Hypothermia, Anesthesia, Pharmacologic paralysis, Sepsis)

Low SvO2 : ↓ Oxygen delivery(↓ Hb Anemia, hemorrhage, ↓ SaO2 Hypoxia, suctioning, ↓ CO Hypovolemia, shock, Arrhythmias); or↑ Oxygen demand (Hyperthermia, pain Shivering, seizure)
