step3exam yesterday - czar

hi,
completed my step 3exam yesterday.
i completely agree with marios view abt the exam
the usmle c.d is a joke, too easy
first day was tough for me, long questions and were really out of this world.
second say was cool, more like uworld but simpler , got some step 2 type of questions. lots of images , dermatology, CT, CHEST XRAY, fundoscopy but they were okay and easily interpretable from the history.
ccs cases were okay, fumbled with first 2 patients but they did not ide the rest were okay. most cases were from uworld
ccs cases.
well read swanson, crush and did uworld questions all timed
ended at 59.87% .did not treat the questions again but read through them well.
read FA the day b4 the exam but it was just mental masturbation, but its a good book.
the exam is passable and one just needs to be calm and practice the cases well.
i feel relieved this is over , but i am not as comfortable as i was after step 2ck.

hi czar! congratulations for finishing your step 3. thanks for sharing your encounter;it`s been very helpful . have a few questions though. due to insufficient time, what parts/chapters of swansons do you think should i prioritize to study? have you encounter a lot of computations/biostatistics?. thank you so much.

honestly not for once did i pick the pen to calculatethe statistics were inferential statistics.
Interpretation of studies ,p-values , mortality reduction etc,patient bringing study reports and asking if he'll benefit by using certain drugs ,based on the studies.
Swanson was good for the cervical screening stuff,the statistics in swanson too was okay,
geriatrics, and the pictures at the back of the book.But u need a book to review the step 2stuff,it all depends on how long u did step 2 cos i wrote step 2 last february and i had to
scan through my step 2 stuff.

good luck with your scores!
i have my exam on 11 and 12 oct. I have a question for you: there is a case of giardiasis on usmle cd, which can be treated in about 5-10 minutes. are there such cases on the actual exam? or cases on the actual exam are aslo longer than these ones.

some cases are short , some are long
atimes if u have met the objectives of the case
u get awarning that u have 5mins more and that
u should round up ur case.
some cases i got were long DKA, CCF.
U World is a good material for the CCS cases.
