A patient who has recently - pursuit

undergone hip fracture repair develops the sudden onset of SOB. His pulse is 110/min. The chest is clear to auscultaiton.Chest x-ray is normal, and EKG shows sinus tachycardia. ABG shows pH 7.48, pCO2 28, pO2 75.

What is the next step in the management?


A-Heparin

B-V/Q scan

C-Spiral CT scan

D-D-Dimers

E-Lower extemity Dopplers

yes give heparin before going for spiral CT

symptoms suggest PE, but shouldn't ABG be reverse of presented? PCO2 up and PO2 low?
