research not field-related to residency helps? - medman85
#1
Hi. Is research in a field not very related to your residency useful for your application or a waste of time? For example will research done in a newborn medicine department (basic science) help with a residency in IM?
Actually I have to choose between a paid research position in a newborn medicine lab and a non-paid in a cardiovascular lab (both basic science). I want to do IM (and maybe a fellowship in cardiology)
