Strong advise needed... - mfaisalahmad
#1
I'm a US citizen IMG, graduate of 2000 and after several attempts with USMLE steps 1 and 2, have not yet passed. I'm very depressed and disheartened...I have received advise from my peers, that now it is too late to take the exams, and that I will have to go thru med school again since it has been over 11 years since I had graduated...It is even more depressing to hear that....I want to know, whether if I take my steps again, and if I pass, will I still have a chance? I really need some serious advise....

why would you have to go through medical school again?

There are alot of people here on the forum that graduated even many years before you did and they dont have to go to the medical school again. If your USMLE scores have been more than 7 years, just take them again and your record of failing would be erased. if not 7 years yet, keep taking it. if you are close to 7 years limit, just wait to fill the 7 years, then scores will be erased and you will fresh start.

Good luck.

Don't worry about YOG. I am an old graduate (11 years ago) and got prematched. However, your scores don't get erased after 7 years. I failed step1 13 years ago and it's still in my record. Study hard, try to pass.

I think you are better of Redo medical school if possible and then redo your STEPS, my 2 cents
