i wanted to know what is the deans letter ?
i am an img from egypt , and planing to stay in the us till residency so can any one tell me what is it ?
and is it ok to write before application for long time ? i mean if the deans signed it these days and i applied in september , is it ok or should be signatured at time of application

It's like a testimonial letter from the dean of medicine saying that you were a student of that faculty and successfully passed your medical course. Mostly this is replaced by the MSPE .

Go to ECFMG site and search for MSPE . It replaces dean's letter. It's basically a standardized recommendation letter with description of you ur class size and relative performance during medical school. It can be done now or in future. When you apply in September , programs won't be able to view ur MSPE until November ( match regulation).
