AMA...how important is our membership? - junsen
#1
Hello doctors,

I just come to know that if we are ECFMG certified then we can have some membership in the AMA! I registered but would it be any difference in the application? I'm not sure about this!

thank you

It would be a great difference if you also are US citizen or Permanent resident in addition

AMA membership will not help your residency application. A minority of US physicians are now members. AMA membership tells me nothing about you as a possible residency candidate other than you spent $ 45 to join. Its not a bad use of $45 but won't help your application.

not important at all. spend those 45 dollars anywhere else, heck you can even buy the list of programs or give your self a treat!
wait till you are in a residency to join AMA, it is not worth it as a independant applicant
good luck!
