medical student performance evaluation - is an evaluation form filled by the medical school. it is narrative in nature, describing you throughout your years in medical school. this is a must for the usa medical graduates, and as such they do this write-up over the years. after you graduate, they then compile these to make a report on you. this report in narrative form would be your MSPE. This is known practice of the usa medical school that they have to provide these. However schools outside USA are not following these, for some, the Medical School Transcript suffices and no need to MSPE. Because of this, it is not mandatory for Foreign Medical Graduate to have this MSPE provided with their application documents. It is however mandatory for the USA grads to have such with their application since it is a known practice amongst them, and every medical school in the USA would prepare such and provide it to their graduants.

their are templates of the targeted evaluated components available on google. One of the USMLE and ECFMG official website have template available as well. Gives you an idea what is needed to be evaluated

it is different from lor, because lor is written by one person. mspe is written by all that taught you in medical school or the designated person who is supposed to be writing it, for every year that you are in medical school for. hence because it is written for every year, it should contain many pages of narrative writing, or outlining

this is supposed to be a yearly retrospective write-up, or end of unit evaluation. not a medical school duration write up. that is why they making allowance for those graduating outside usa, since it is not their practice to have this kind of report. for usa graduate, it is mandatory to have this report so they do it every year or after every unit, doing this write up. it is then compiled and provided to one upon graduation in addition to the medical school transcript. medical schools outside usa are not following these, these evaluation is supposedly reflected by the medical school transcript. they can provide mspe, but that would mean they would have to go retrospective and try collect narrative writings, since all that has been provided over the years is the transcript

that is if you are a foreign medical graduate, if you are an usa graduate, it is a must to have this mspe as they would question you if you don't have it.

they could question you as well for your mspe if you are a foreign medical graduate. but, they understand that this is mainly an usa adopted practice and not everywhere else adheres to it. perhaps in the years to come but not now

so unless there is an unified directories to medical schools outside of usa, these shortcomings would have to be accepted. usa medical school have unified directories to how they conduct things and that is why they outline MSPE as a document to be included in the application. however since some residency programs make allowances for foreign graduates, they would have to make do without mspe. give mspe to a school outside usa not familiar with residency application, they would ask what the heck is that? hahahahahahaha

unless they google it to find out what mspe is, give it to them first encounter and they would give you the medical school transcript hahahahahahahahaha ask again that you need mspe, they would go, what the heck is mspe? hahahahahahaha

go to a medical school in usa and ask for mspe, they would immediately print you numerous pages of writing, since they have been gathering things to write since one first step foot in their medical school hahahahaha
