uses FA oxidation or Fatty acids as the main fuel source of energy in both well fed and fasting stage...and also uses ketones in addition in fasting stage.....can anyone tell what is fuel source in failing heart?..or in pts with cardiac hypertrophy what is main energy source?..

I think
cs in "Ischemic heart tissue" due to lack of O2 supply , beta-oxidation will go down.Ischemic Myocytes will have "Increased in Glucose uptake" hence "Increased Glycolysis".

mitocondrial swelling =impairment of b oxidation=glucose through anaerobic glycolysis ( increase lactic acids LDH )
