we know that Cardiac Muscle - shells

uses FA oxidation or Fatty acids as the main fuel source of energy in both well fed and fasting stage...and also uses ketones in addition in fasting stage.....can anyone tell what is fuel source in failing heart?..or in pts with cardiac hypertrophy what is main energy source?..

bravo Sarim....its glucose oxidation....can u please explain me y it is so..this is the thing i dont understand!..they say that b oxidation is depleted....is it bcoz a failing hear has used all the FA and has exhausted them?..or something else?!..

I think
cs in "Ischemic heart tissue" due to lack of O2 supply , beta-oxidation will go down.Ischemic Myocytes will have "Increased in Glucose uptake" hence "Increased Glycolysis".

but doesnt even glycolysis need O2 unless its anaerobic...

mitocondrial swelling =impairment of b oxidation=glucose through anaerobic glycolysis ( increase lactic acids LDH )
