Histo Q.....2..... - psychmledr
#1
A 50-year-old woman was seen by a gynecologist for lower abdominal pain and vaginal bleeding. On physical examination, a right adnexal mass was palpated. Imaging studies showed that the mass was in the right ovary. A hysterectomy and right salpingo-oophorectomy was performed.
Microscopic examination of the ovarian mass showed plump, spindle cells with foamy cytoplasm due to lipid droplets.
Which of the following also would be present on morphologic examination of the uterus?

A. Adenomyosis
B. Chronic endometritis
C. Complex endometrial hyperplasia
D. Leiomyoma
E. Serous cystadenoma

the clinical picture(micro) looks like thecoma. So, since it's estrogenic influence, it'd go with CC

C is correct Smile

Plump spindle cells with foamy cytoplasm in an ovarian mass are characteristic of thecomas, which are stromal tumors of the ovary. These tumors usually secrete estrogen.

Estrogen -----> excessive stimulation of the endometrium ----> hyperplasia, from simple to complex, and subsequently to adenocarcinoma.
