what to give in kids in emerdgtency case eg 10 mth old with intussusception

do we always do blood cultures two times or only in IE cases ??
in the software how much time apart do we order .. ?

General approach

if pain is inflammatory use nsaids/ketorolac, if nsaid is contraindicated, use steriods
for cancer pain, use opiods, if metastasis, use steriods
for severe pain like colicky you can use morphine

in acute crisis (children) you can give one time morphine

ALWAYS DO BLOOD CULTURE 2X EXCEPT FOR IE U DO IT 3X TIMES

3 set of blood cultures should be done 30-60 apart before antibiotics in infective endocarditis. dont give antibiotic till u finish collectiong 3rd set.
In all other cases like sepsis, 2 blood cultures are ok and collection can be done 15- 30 mins apart.

how do we order MDI in CCS ?

ya.. i could not find it too. so for COPD patients or asthma patients on disharge .. how should we give albuterol or ipratropium inhaler ..i dont understand
and is it possible to order medications on PRN basis ? dont think we will be able to do that .

eg.. metformin cancel and change to sliding insulin scale !!
