hi all,
i appeared at houston centre and passed in first attempt, thank GOD for that.
i didnt have any study partner and prepared alone in 1 month.I mainly used FIRST AID and used USMLE WORLD notes sparingly.MAIN KEY IS- CONFIDENCE,MANNERS,SPOKEN ENGLISH,TIME MANAGEMENT and ull be through. i had higher performance in all the fields in the score report.
I was nervous and scared like a rat on the exam day but somehow managed to keep myself together and that i believe is the key! let me know if i can help anyone out thereSmile

hey usmle love, first of all congrats on passing . I have been trying to find a partner as well but most people here are frauds , when u add they ask for money and want to enroll u in a course of some sort.etc.. so just like u i have no partner. i have done cs videos and also read first aid 2wice, made some mnemonics and have been just practicing my self, exams on 29th of august.. My english is good coz major part of my schooling is in america, so dont have problem with that.. any advice in this regard will be really appreciated.. thanks

thanks drkhan...
---for the study material-First Aid and CS videos suffice for the most part. There are some cases that are not covered in First Aid,i just took a quick look at the D/d of those cases from U-world notes but didnt practice them)

---practicing-this is also a vital part of the prep.i did it in front of the mirror, all by myself, with family members, any one i could find.PRACTICE EACH FIRST AID CASE atleast once.also during practice try finishing your cases in less than 15 mins(i alwayz tried to do it in 14 and it helped immensely for the time management on the D-day)

---another important thing is not to loose your nerves during the patient encounter,be confident and warm.Greet, smile, show empathy, explain, apologise, thank AND you will be fine.Manners are very important part of the interaction.

---mnemonics help a lot-make them, read them over and over again, memorise them.

---patient note-easy to master,i typed in 10-12 patient during my practice and that was all.But i did read them all.

---good english and good choice of words will work in your favour.so thats a good thingSmile

good luck with your exam.youll be fineSmile
