Hi guys. had a question about management of hypercholesterolemia. Do we use ATP-3 guidelines for risk stratification in treatment. I mean is it still valid coz MTB and Usmleworld are giving different views. Your input will be appreciated.
It goes like this:
1. CAD/CAD EQUIVALENT(DM, PAD, CAROTID DISEASE, Aortic disease)=ideal LDL45M, 55F; FH of early MI, Low HDL60 removes 1 risk factor.
two or more risk factors:goal is 130; lifestyle mod if LDL>130; statin if LDL>160
zero/1 risk factor:goal is 160, lifestyle mod if LDL>160; statin if LDL>190
Plz any1, Dr Sami, Misshyd.....if you can help out
