dear friends,
i got 81 (199) in step 1 and now i m preparing 4 step 2 . i am 1997- 2003 passout mbbs student . i m a fmg and i am planning to go for b1 visa . please tell me:
1) is my step 1 score is good enough to get into residency in internal medicine?
2) what should be my minimum score in step 2 to get into residency in internal medicine ?

Hi Prakash, i think u cant go for b1 visa for a residency, u will need h1/J1. ur score is fine but as i am sure u know, its not gr8 but not bad either, may be u shud try to get a higher score in step 2, perhaps shoot for 90 plus but dont focus only on the score also work on other aspects of ur application like getting some clinical experience, some research, unless u wanna go out an out for academics there is no sense in doing a lot of research, so just an odd abstract, perhaps a review on your favorite topic shud be good, it helps coz a clinician who works on evidence based medicine is i guess thought of as somewhat better than the old school text book kind. US CLinical Experience really helps these days, so try to get that. GL!!!!
