closing a patient encounter - usmlestat
#1
Hi guys! Just wondering on how are you going to do a closing. Do you tell them the diagnosis itself (e.g. Hyperthyroidism) OR in layman's term such as " Im thinking that your symptoms can be caused by a problem in your thyroid". Thanks guys!

usmlestat yes iv sat this test ..
im sitting it again soon

my tips from first hand experience - the test is very different from real life practice so practice acc to FA etc..
the patients are not always friendly infact they can be v rude but remember this is only acting so dont get nervous
write points down (aft asking permission) because aft a few cases back to back and nerves you might jumble up info in ur head
remember to drape remember the foot board
speak loudly
wear gloves it saves time
do not write anything in the PN that u have not asked done in the room
practice typing the note several several times

if u are just starting.. keep enough days in hand dont rush this test.. its an easy exam but its also easy to fail it .. not to scare u but just study properly
practice with a friend is poss
do FA.. start with mini cases.. dont ignore them.. so for every c/c u shud know a few d/ds plus workup at the tip of your tongue
then move to the big FA cases and practice typing the note on the PN provided on the usmle website

GL!
