J1 research is done on exchange visitor status and J1 clinical is done on alien physician status....to change onto the later u can either do it from here or go to ur home country consulate and change it.....its better if you do the later...coz i heard it takes more than 3 months to get it approved from here.....u just need a couple of papers from ur international director, Supervisor and the PD of the prog u matched....i knw this much...hope it helps

@Jenash: Dude that's not correct....

@usmlephoenix: DO not go to home country if you require a change of status...And you have 2yr HRRR...
It takes some 15-20 days for change of status....

oh really ...I heard it takes 3 to 4 months frm pple who did that before and I also know someone who went to the home country to change the status.......may be its changed now..could u give me some specifics?
