Please add in the list what else we need to have before residency start just for guidance--
1- Contract letter
2-Statement of need for J-1
3- Visa documentation
4-State Training license
5-SSN number
6- Driver's license
7- Apartment
8 - Car

How many days in advance are you planing to go to Matched location? anything are you studying in advance ( specially for FM)?

+- reflex hammer
smart phone or regular cell phone + pda with a bunch of medical software +- ebooks (simplifies life a lot)
