Crown Heights in Brooklyn is not the greatest of locations but nearly all teaching hospitals are in under-served areas. You drive 10 min in any direction or take a train 2 stops away and you aer in MUCH BETTER territory/

Don't take advice from a person who may or may not have lived in new york city or even brooklyn. Many fear places they just dont understand. Practice common sense, and you'll be fine
