dear friend this is just a the molecular structure fact....

1C prime = always attach to nitrogen base
2C = may or may not have a hydroxyl group [ dna doesnt, rna does]
3C =always has a hydroxyl group
5C = associated with the phosphate group... will or will not have one...

3C-5C = binding site for sugar elongation
