Like in UTI, do we do urine culture first or give antibiotics first? (choose one best first step)

we normally do them together in real life. but if the test is asking which is the best next step, what should we choose? this is an nbme question and i chose to do culture first. because this is not a life or death situation like meningitis which also need LP for culture, so for that case giving antibiotics is best next step. anyone else?

does it give u the UA and Micro result?
If so, you don't wait for the culture result.

this is out of the question. of course we have UA results and UTI is already known. the point here is which should we arbitrarily choose as best next step. we Need culture to know the sensitivity profile.

it is a tricky one.
I wish it gave the option of culturing and starting empiric treatment at the same time.

Just read MTB about this, no need for culture for clinically-defined UTI unless in complicated ones- like suspicion of obstruction..etc.
