well it depends on the case...its mostly the history as per the FA and then do the MMSE if needed and a quick neuro exam to r/o neurological disease.
what case are you in particular referring to?

schizo,anxiety disorder,PTSD, sleep disturbance(insomnia),drug addict...

For every psych case you start with:
MSE(mental state exam).Not necessary to complete all parts. 1.Appearance 2.Speech (slurred,aphasias) 3.Mood 4.Thought 5.Perception (dellusions/hallucinations/modalities) 6.Cognition (MMSE for dementia) 7.insight (to current condition) Then depending on case,go to specific Qs.For example for depression follow FACE SLIPS |
