A 10 month old infant is brought to the ED because of labored breathing for 1 hr. She has had cough, coruza and fever for 18 hrs. Her temp. 38, pulse is 120/min, resp 54/min and bp 82/60. Pulse oximetry shows an oxygen saturation of 92%. Bilateral wheezes and basilar crackles are heard. What is the pathophysiology?
