I had a student who recently failed step 3. He took both NBMEs. He got 560 in form 1, and 580 in form 2. He got a 600 on the Uworld self assessment. But then on the real thing he scored a 178. And his CCS was decent. Between borderline and high.
I honestly think the NBME for step 3 is very inaccurate. It doesnt give a true picture. But I am at a loss for ideas as to why this guy failed?!
Personally, I never did any self assessment. I did about 3-4 uworld blocks. Got above 80% in them, and then did the exam. I got a 264 on it. I didnt think I would bring that high of a score. My guess is that the NBMEs are old and since they have made changes to the actual exam, the self assessments are no longer accurate.
What are your thoughts?
