i thought it was gastric bleed.
can you explain why it is met alkalosis?

metabolic alkalosis is bcos of diarrhea..... but i donno which one choose amongst A and B here... i am confusedSad

Should be A. gastric bleeding. Iron produce free radicals damage the mucosa.

Phase 1- first 6hrs: GI damage..Hgic vomiting, diarrhea.

Phase 2- 6-12 hrs: temporary improvement

Phase 3- 12-24 hrs: metabolic acidosis, coagulopathy, shock, seizures, and altered mental status caused by mitochondrial damage and hepatocellular injury

Phase 4- 2-6 wks: scarring of GIT.. cirrhosis, pyloric obstn.
