is it true that chances are low to match if i did not match the previous year?

Not necessarily.

Tons of qualified people don't match. Do you have weaknesses in your app? Late application, no USCE, no US LORs, applying to programs you aren't competitive at, Steps not done, no EMG...whatever that certificate is.

Make sure you have everything ready to go next year and apply on day 1.

I have all those what blueamg mentioned. Just an extra attempt on my step 1 and I have not received an interview and will not match Sad

So it's just something you have to try cause then you will always wonder

If you dont match then u need to do soul searching and try and find out weakness in your application and strengthen it. For example if you have 10 publications it doesnt make sense to continue doing research. U probably need some more USCE. If you have a year of observership and didnt match there might not be a value in doing another month or two of observership.
And sometimes people are just unlucky in a specific year. However assuming that its dangerous. U just have to be over critical of yourself and try to improve something....have nothing to lose
