Really confused. Need help regarding ranking - drsandhu
#1
Hi. I have a question and I am really confused about it. I have to rank programs from 3 specialties. IM, Neurology, Pediatrics. Would it affect my matching chances in any way if i do mixed specialty ranking of programs based upon my liking or disliking of a specific program? Or do I have to rank programs of one specialty first, then programs of second specialty, then of third. ?E.g I want to rank my top 3 IM programs at the top of list, then I want to rank A couple of very good Med-peds and neurology programs, then i want to rank good peds programs and then the rest of IM, Neurology and Peds programs. Please let me know if there is any harm in doing that when it comes to matching. Thanks

No harm in your chances of matching if you do mix and match. It will only affect the NRMP data because they look at your consecutive ranks. But it won't affect you in any way.

no one can see your list and it doesnt harm your chance of matching at all to mix the specialties.
