A 34-year-old male presents to the emergency room complaining of severe right shoulder pain after falling from a tree. X-ray reveals a fracture in the middle third of the right clavicle. The medial end of the fractured clavicle is displaced upward due to traction by the:
A. Rhomboid muscles
B. Sternocleidomastoid muscle
C. Pectoralis minor muscle
D. Serratus anterior muscle
E. Subclavius muscle
F. Sternoclavicular ligaments

For Q2&Q3: A 37-year-old female patient has a fracture of the clavicle. The junction of the middle and lateral thirds of the bone exhibits overriding of the medial and lateral fragments. The arm is rotated medially, but it is not rotated laterally.
Q2 The lateral portion of the fractured clavicle is displaced downward by which of the following?
(A) Deltoid and trapezius muscles
(B) Pectoralis major and deltoid muscles
© Pectoralis minor muscle and gravity
(D) Trapezius and pectoralis minor muscles
(E) Deltoid muscle and gravity
Q3 Which of the following muscles causes upward displacement of the medial fragment?
(A) Pectoralis major
(B) Deltoid
© Trapezius
(D) Sternocleidomastoid
(E) Scalenus anterior

BB?
Deltoid flexes and medially rotates arm
Pectoralis major --> It is attached to the medial clavical and its action is medial rotation and extension of arm like during boxing.
The Q says that the arm is not rotated laterally. Trapezius muscle with the origin fixed, elevates and laterally rotates the arm (scapula).

2) E?! -> The pect major is on the medial portion so I would think it would try to pull that park downward, but is over-opposed by the SCM pulling upwards. So only the deltoid (muscle-wise) would affect the lateral portion of the clavicle.....could very well be totally wrong though : /
3)D?!
