A 29 y/o M Caucasian found by you unresponsive in an alleyway behind your clinic and bottle of beer in his hand. Minutes later in your clinic, pat is responsive to deep pain only, the pupils are pinpoint and respiration are slow and shallow. There are track marks on lower and upper extremities. F. Track marks + pinpoint pupils and shallow respiration= opioid intoxication.
Px found unresponsive , you can't use the oral route to revive him( naltrexone) or methadone. IV naloxone very efficient in reversal of coma and resp depression.
