Psychiatry Interview/Rejection Status 2015 - drsbg
@sisofprov

I got this message but didn't know what to take from it. Does this mean waitlisted?

Thank you for your interest in our program at the Medical College of Georgia, Georgia Regents Univeristy.
At this time we are suspending offering further interview invitations as our available interview slots are nearly full. We have been overwhelmed with well qualified applicants this year, and unfortunately cannot accommodate everyone who has expressed interest in us.
Our Selection committee has therefore decided to place your application on inactive status. That means that at this time we do not expect to be able to offer you an interview for our program this year. It is possible that things could change as the interview season progresses. If thst should happen we will be back in touch.
Thank you again for your interest and we wish you the best in your professional future.

Hello guys, I am new and on the same boat. Just a few ivs at community hospitals. I also went to Mt. Sinai-Elmhust.... did anyone hear if they started offering pre-matches already?

Hi there eroca. I interviewed at Elmhurst program as well. havn't heard back from them. I am not sure if they have started sening out offers!. Btw, did anyone reply to your thank you letter? They seemed really busy there!

Hi naturallycrazy... nope, no response... I also have been trying to find out in Google if they have already started but I guess they are doing this at really closed doors. Also did not see here or in other forums that they are still sending out interviews, so they are supposed to be working on a closed pool of candidates... My hunch is that they should be contacting the top applicants by end of this week or early next... What do you think?. So other guys said, they will start in December, which I do not think is accurate either. If they wait too much, many people may end up jumping the boat for other pre-matches....

Hey guys I know someone with an interview at Elmhurst during first week of Jan.

well I was told by a resident on the interview day that they start offering positions in end of November/ beginning of December, and that the PD tends to leave a coupld of positions till the end of the season!

I was actually thinking of calling or writing to them for reiterating my interest in the program, but am not sure whther this well help.

Well, everything is possible and your answer sounds plausible. Still do not see the point of holding pre-match offers if they have already finished with the interviews. They are busy, yes; but they also know that other programs are competing for the same candidates so the sooner they offer, the bigger the chance to catch the best ones. Unless they need to run the result by the "super-computer" and get our genome chain before making a decision, they should pretty much know who by end of the week. The rest it is just sitting on top of the files. As to sending a note, leave it to you man. I will not do it but if you hear or know (same as I am) that they are sending the offers, then we can begin pushing. You never know how these guys could behave, some look liked loose canons to me.
