How can I get into orthopedic residency and/or fellowship in US?

- IMG from Ukraine
- YOG 2009 graduated summa cum laude (all A)
- 2 years of residency in orthopedics in home country
- 2 years of fellowship in orthopedics in home country
- now 2nd year PhD research fellow in orthopedics in home country
- US experience: 2 months as AOTrauma International Fellow - University of Mississippi Medical Center, department of Orthopedic surgery
- member of AOTrauma International
- Author of 22 scientific papers (5 in English)
- Know program directors from 2 universities
- Will have some US LORs
- Have not prepared for steps yet

prepare for steps and try to get high scores.

what u r asking is extremely difficult


prepare for the steps,
try to get at least 255 in both
then think about it

If you can get good scores... You have a very good shot...YOG etc etc does not matter... What it matters is score score and score... Once done with exams use your contacts...

The program director of No. 1 residency in US from Hospital for Special Surgery told me that they take applicants with more than 240 on step 1. But those are AMG and no. 1 hospital. Do I have to aim around 250?

I would suggest you 1st start preparing for the exam... Take assessment exams..You will know for yourself where you stand... You can make a decision at that time....
How can you say how much you will get in an exam ??
Or did you already take all the steps and that you are just asking us an indirect question???? If that's the case... Please tell us score and some one in the forum might give a suggestion...
