Hi ,,anyone planning to apply for OBGyn match 2016?? Is it too competitive for IMGs?

Yes . It's highly competitive. I didn't get a single interview despite having Obgyn residency experience in my country and then US externships in Obgyn clinics for 6 months. I have given up on it. I wasted this years' match because I focused on Obgyn and only applied to few IM, FM and peds . My interviews were in IM and peds. B/c of having so much in Obgyn, I had a tough time explaining my switch to other fields.
I advice you to gain experience in other fields too otherwise u might end up like me.... Not Matched !!!

Where exactly did u do externships in OB/GYN? Externships are ones with hands on experience, right?

I am not going to waste my time pursuing Obgyn anymore. I did externships at Obgyn clinics via FMG portal. I did get hands on experience there. But I didn't get any IVs in Obgyn.
I am looking into research related to IM and also observerships. I plan to focus on IM and peds as I have good scores and my chances would be better in these fields. All I need is more USCE in these fields. So I am trying to build my resume for nrmext match.
Rest is upto GOD .
What's ur plan ?
