most programs that aren't IMG friendly don't count observerships extrrnships as USCE

You'll find more information on each programs website

You need to be more specific as to what you volunteer position entails, essentially if it isn't clinically related
And doesn't lead to an LoR it's just fluff on your CV

Again what does your ER volunteering involve ? Pushing patients around ?

If you aren't applying to ER I don't see the benefit.

If you are applying to ER, it's of no use too, IMGs get into ER but their resumes are impeccable
Or they are Carib IMGs with no visa issues

Good luck

Hello Everyone

Its better to do externship than observership aka shadowing aka volunteer as externship is a hands on clinical experience while observership is nothing more than shadowing ur doctor where he would not be in a position to evaluate your skill sets properly to write a GOOD LOR.

There is roger washington's clinic in santa clara, california, offer externship, which is a hands on clinical experience.
I did there & it was very much helpful to me.
I would suggest you to do this.
visit www.rogerwashington.com for more information.
