what does this have to do with research or J1, please this is about verification of credentials ,

But it might relate to visa issues if they try to be asswipes

It's clear!
Some people said that same issue will affect SEVIS payments. So if they extend it to SEVIS it will impact visa processes.

I can assure you visa will be dependent on the officer and background check if any for clearance.

So I am sure Visa is not an issue if anything it will be verification.

ECFMG will end up making a third party in England or Canada (WES Canada) to validate.

what ECFMG website is saying is crystal clear. anything that requires contact with iranian authorities is pending. there is no way that sponsoring visa could be affected at least at this point with current available information

Conclusion is this:

has nothing to do with Visa, and most likely it will be fixed.

They will use the same system in UK or in Canada now. WES Canada.
