Positives Green Card, no attempts, completed residency in home country

negatives YOG and below average step scores

you've got a decent shot, you'll need to apply broadly and not geographically limit yourself!

good luck

in addition to what Kash_md said, try applying to as many programs as you can afford,
IM has a better chance FM is very competitive .
Good Luck

Focus on one specialty. Your scores are good for FM.
FM is not as competitive as IM.

FM is not more competitive than IM in your case (you don't need a visa), but there are fewer number of seats, while the OPs scores are better suited for FM (see NRMP match data) you need to have the right primary care USCE, since your 4 months of observerships are in IM you'll need your letter writers to craft you different letters

Less seats in FM, but much easier to attain since you don't need a visa.

I see you want research, but a) research won't have an affect on your application this cycle b) won't get you contacts or interviews this year c) realistically, you aren't competitive for places that appreciate research

I would focus on trying to squeeze in an observership or 2 at places you could possibly match, looks like you've got good IM experience, if FM is an option, look for some friendly programs that take ppl from your med school or country of origin.

good luck

Less seats for FM but less applicants too.
NRMP stats for 2014
Number of candidates to number of positions ratio:
FM- 1.3
IM: 1.4

Totally agree that FM experience/LORs required.
