i am going to apply in IM for the 2016-2017 match.what kind of research will be beneficial for my application and from where to get info about the same? still i have no USCE .i live in california. i need your suggestions .please help. thanx

focus on USCE research comes second

any research that leads to publications will be beneficial, if you plan on applying to a specific fellowship in the future then it will be worth your time to pursue research in that sub specialty.

I can't help you with observerships / externships but my recommendation is to look across the US

a) more opportunities
b) Cali is not the most IMG friendly state better to get at least some exposure at places across the US where you can match & or most importantly have current contacts
