Categorical in Main match, Prelim in SOAP?? - doctordontstop

So my top IM programs also have prelim spots that historically don't fill. Would it be a good idea to apply to these programs as a prelim in SOAP. I mean, the program already knows you and maybe they like you, but didn't rank you high. Is it a good idea to apply to these programs and hope to snag a PGY-2?

That's a tricky one . I would apply to there preliminary if unfilled .but will stay away from their categorical.if they ever ranked you then you stand a chance. But if you were DNR then you've wasted an application. Good luck on the match
